I think he creates magnetic fields around him that let him levitate, actually i think it's the magnetic field from earth he can manipulate, he can also control any form of energy thats part of the electromagnetic spectrum but it's pretty hard for him to do

I dunno how it works, to be honest I think they're pretty liberal with the laws of physics and magnetism when they made magneto



actually though, in physics when we try to create Fusion reactions, like stars, stars are held together to keep the reaction going because of gravity in space, we can't simulate that on earth so we use magnetic fields to hold them together, so i think electromagnetic fields can be used to "float" things or hold them in place

They also heat those hydrogen atoms they use in magnetic confinement fusion to over ten million degrees so that they are in a plasma state, which makes them electrically conductive, aka they respond to electromagnetic fields very well.

It's gotta just be a loose-interpretation of the laws of physics for fictional purposes.
